So How do our Designer Houses Come to Be?

For our 2024 House we were lucky: the homeowners wanted to participate in 2022, but were planning major construction that wouldn’t be completed until 2024. So we held our first fall Bucks County Designer House & Gardens event in September-October 2022 at Broadhurst Manor. But we wanted to return to our traditional spring event, and we had a house that would be ready then . . . so we are now delighted to be able to present Sycamore Lane Farm this coming spring, April 28 – May 26, 2024.



Our VIA Designer House Committee spent the time from the end of Broadhurst Manor until now planning, working with the homeowners, contacting interested partners (landscapers, designers, boutiques, and other support companies) and generally preparing.



We have 60-70 VIA members working in 30+ subcommittees to handle everything from trash collections and parking to tickets and finances, to the Gala party.  We’ve worked hard for the last several months planning.



Now we really kick into gear! In September, we hold our Designer Preview. That’s when we bring in interested partners so they can see the grounds, house, and outbuildings and decide which they want to work on. They’ll provide us their top choices . . . our Designer House Advisory Committee will review those requests and offer assignments. We’ll work out all the questions and finalize the plans and contracts. Then our partners start their work to finalize their designs, order supplies, and generally plan for the start of work in mid-February.



The VIA’s Designer House Committee isn’t idle during this time. We work closely with each partner, but we’re also preparing for our lavish opening Gala on April 26, 2024, contacting sponsors and advertisers, preparing our marketing and advertising, updating the website, signing up volunteers . . . the list goes on.
