Sycamore Lane Farm in Hilltown, PA is a stately and historic home rebuilt in 1900
The 2024 Bucks County Designer House & Gardens, Sycamore Lane Farm, opened its doors with an elegant Preview Gala on Friday, April 26, 2024. Public tours and special events ran from April 28 through May 26.
Thank you to Gina and Scott Rubel for their support.
They have our gratitude and best wishes as their family settles into their old-made-new home.
The Bucks County Designer House & Gardens is the VIA’s largest annual fundraising event.
Proceeds from the Designer House support Doylestown Health and the charitable missions of the VIA.
This year’s focus is the VIA Maternity Center at Doylestown Hospital.
Proceeds from the 2024 Bucks County Designer House & Gardens will support the continued clinical and programmatic needs of the VIA Maternity Center as Doylestown Health enters its second century of care. Funds will be used to enhance the patient experience, improve technology throughout the Center, and aid in the delivery of personalized-care for mothers and newborns. Specific priority needs include new patient beds for Labor and Delivery, a state-of-the-art security and alert system for the unit, new, wireless fetal monitors for mothers in labor, and additional capital and infrastructure improvements. The generous support received from the 2024 Designer House will play a significant role in bringing approximately 1,300 babies into the world every year at Doylestown Hospital.
Sycamore Lane Farm has been in the same family for over sixty years and is now owned by the next generation of family members who plan to make it their forever home. Beginning in 2021, they embarked on a major renovation of the house while focusing on the property’s historic significance in the history of Bucks County. A stunning addition, including a glass conservatory, an impressive chef’s kitchen, and a graceful primary suite, are just a few of the beautiful new living spaces at Sycamore Lane Farm. Forty-five acres of rolling hills and farmland surround the house, and feature numerous outbuildings including an artist’s studio, milk house, smokehouse, bank barn, three-car garage, and a spring house.
The 2024 Designer House & Gardens was just one chapter in the long and storied history of Sycamore Lane Farm. The homeowner’s direct ancestors were responsible for the capture of the notorious Doan Gang during the Revolutionary War. Be sure to visit Doylestown’s Mercer Museum when they host the 2024 exhibition, The Doan Gang: Outlaws of the Revolution, which opened in May 2024.
Later, from 1938 until 1953, Sycamore Lane Farm was home to John Falter, the great American Illustrator who went on to paint over 100 Saturday Evening Post covers from the farm, some of which depict rooms and buildings that still exist today at SLF. Visitors to the 2024 Bucks County Designer House & Gardens can expect to see some of the home’s unique history reflected in its decor.
